Today in the union tribune, it IMPLICATED that A death row inmate who says he's too fat to be executed received poor legal help during his trial and later when he appealed the death sentence, his lawyers said Monday during a clemency hearing. It's the second time that Richard Cooey, convicted of killing two University of Akron students in 1986, has EMERGED and asked the state for mercy. The Ohio Parole Board denied a similar request five years ago, and Cooey came within a day of being executed in 2003 before a federal judge issued a reprieve. In a lawsuit filed this month, his lawyers said that executioners would have trouble finding Cooey's veins and that his weight could diminish the effectiveness of one of the lethal injection drugs. Cooey stands 5 feet 7 and weighs 267 pounds. His execution is scheduled for October 14. It would be the first execution in the state since the end of a moratorium while the U.S. Supreme Court reviewed Kentucky's lethal injection procedure. His lawyers said that Cooey's original defense team didn't properly present evidence about the effect of beatings he received as a child, as well as the impact of Cooey's alcohol abuse. If he's killed on October 14, we will kill a changed man, Cole said. He's not the same man who committed these crimes.
I think that’s just the dumbest thing to IMPLICATE because why would you be too fat for the lethal injection, they did it to John Wayne Gacy they should be able to do it to him.
Today I read about a school employee who pleads guilty to taking funds. Jesse Michael Macias 51, has worked for the San Diego school unified district for 17 years and was a supervisor in the maintenance and operation department. He was accused of taking 27,000 dollars from a recycling project. He pleaded guilty yesterday to a felony charge of misappropriation of public money. Macias faces a possible sentence of up to four years in prison at a hearing scheduled for Oct. 2 however a San Diego superior court indicated Macias likely would be placed on probation and ordered to serve time in work furlough.
Interesting Facts- Macias will be ordered to pay restitution.
My Opinion- I think that they let him off easy and that if it was someone else that did that they would send them to prison I think that is not fair and he should go to prison.
The article I read this morning was about a man who escaped from jail on Sunday night. He escaped from Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility which is located in Otay Mesa. The inmates name is Manuel Casillas. Casillas is 24 years old and has been an inmate of Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility since June 20, 2006. the officers noticed he was missing at an inmate count around 9:30 pm. They say that he was at the inmate count around 6 pm. But then at 9:30 pm which was the time they check the inmates again he was gone. Casillas was serving time for a second degree burglary conviction.
I think that Casillas must have had a good reason to have escaped from jail. The reason I think that is its because he was scheduled to be paroled on October 25th. I hope they find him and he gives them a good reason for why he escaped.
An interesting fact that I read in the article was that Casillas was in minimum security.
In today's newspaper I read that the Court documents show the mother of a missing Florida toddler wanted to give the girl up for adoption before she was born. Documents emerge by prosecutors Monday show Casey Anthony's mother insisted that she keep the child. Three year old Caylee has been missing since June. Police implicate the 22 year old Anthony didn't report Caylee missing for more than a month and then lied to them. Caylee's grandmother finally reported the disappearance in July. my hypothesis in this crime is that the lady didn’t want the child and she was trying to get rid of him. If I was to judge this person I would sentence her to at least for 10 years in prison. the most important thing in this article is that there is people that do not have any feelings that will do that to their own kids.

- Four headless bodies found at two sites
- The article that I read today was about Tijuana. There were four bodies that have been found since Monday in two locations in Tijuana. All four of them were decapitated. Three of them were discovered early yesterday in the same spot. They had the same message scrawled in black marker. The message was across the back it said “we are people of the weakened engineer.” The message refers to Fernando Sanchez Arellano. He leads the still powerful Arellano Felix cartel. He is nicknamed “el ingeniero” – “the engineer.” These decapitations are a result of an arrest last week in TJ. The arrest was of Pedro Ignacio Zazueta Rodriguez. He is from San Diego and he is known as “El Pete.” He also uses the identity Ruben Rios Estrada. He is known to be from a Logan Heights gang known as the Red Steps.
- I think that this article is pretty interesting. This is one reason why I don’t really want to go to TJ that much. There are killings every where and you never know who will get it.
The article I read this morning was about 5 bodies that have been found in TJ. Four of the bodies have been found since Monday. The four bodies have been found in 2 different locations. Three of the five bodies that have been found were found yesterday on the Via Rapida. The Via Rapida is a highway that crosses the city of Tijuana. On the three bodies there was the same message. The messages was with a black marker and it said “We are people of the weakened engineer”. Authorities think that the messages refers to Fernando Sanchez Arellano, which is the head to the once powerful Arellano Felix cartel.
I think that Tijuana has come to be a very dangerous city. All I hear about is dead bodies found, shootings, or arrests that the Mexican authorities are making or have made. I hope that they capture all the evil people who make the worst crimes so all this could stop soon.
An interesting fact that I read in the article was that the 3 bodies found had their hands bound, and their heads were burned and then placed near the corpses on an empty trash-filled lot.
