“Russia is escalating warfare; western front splits Georgia”
►Today I read on the newspaper that Russian tanks roared deep into Georgia yesterday, launching a new western front in the conflict, and Russian planes conducted raids that sent panicked civilians fleeing for cover. The escalating warfare brought sharp words from President Bush, who pressed Moscow to accept an immediate cease-fire and pull out its troops to avert a “dramatic and brutal escalation” of violence in the former Soviet republic. Russian forces for the first time moved well outside the two restive, pro-Russian provinces claimed by Georgia that lie at the heart of the dispute. An Associated Press reporter saw Russian troops in control of government buildings in this town just miles from the frontier, and Russian troops were reported in nearby Senaki. Georgia's president said his country had been sliced in half with the capture of a critical highway near the central city of Gori, and Russian warplanes launched new raids across the country.
►I don’t agree because they are destroying a lot of DOMESTIC things.
►I also don’t agree because the DIMENSION of the war keeps on growing.
►In the other hand this is the way the government solve their own problems.
►I think the most interesting fact is that no body is DESPITING the war.
- The San Diego Union Tribune
- Man guilty in torture, slaying of girlfriend
- The article that I read today was about DOMESTIC violence. A Serra Mesa man accused of beating then strangling his girlfriend in the apartment they shared was convicted yesterday of first degree murder and torture. After deliberating for about six days a jury found Jack Henry Lewis Jr., 39 guilty of the felony charges. He was also found guilty of a special circumstance allegation of torture. These two convictions make him eligible for the death penalty. A second part of the trial will begin on Thursday in San Diego Superior Court. The same jury will decide whether Lewis should be executed or sent to prison for life without the possibility of parole. DESPITE the hair and fecal matter that were found around the residence, Hasegawa’s body was clean. This makes it look like she had showered before her death or was cleaned after. Lewis was trying to give a new DIMENSION to the crime by saying that it resulted of a drug fueled sexual encounter that turned violent.
- I think that this is a pretty crazy article. One interesting thing that I learned is that Lewis said it started because she wouldn’t perform a sex act on him. If I was him and was already sentenced to life in prison I would prefer the death penalty.
Today I read a article in the newspaper about a crazy man that lives in sera mesa that is being accused of beating and strangling his girlfriend domestically in the apartment that they would share. But now he is being convicted of first degree murder despite and torture. He already went to court and the judge sentenced him guilty of the felony dimension charges and a special circumstance allegation of torture. Which makes him eligible for the death penalty, but there still not done with his case to see if he is going to be executed or sent to prison for a life sentence.
Today in the union tribune, I read that Dozens of people from organizations such as the Special Olympics and the American Association of People with Disabilities protested the movie-industry spoof across the street from the film's Los Angeles premiere at Mann's Bruin Theatre on Monday. The protesters held up signs with slogans such as "Call me by my name, not by my label" and chanted phrases like "Ban the movie, ban the word. The groups are outraged over scenes featuring the liberal usage of a disparaging term used to describe the mentally disabled. In the movie, director and co-star Ben Stiller plays a fame-hungry actor cast in a war movie who previously had a role as a mentally disabled character named Simple Jack. The DreamWorks film, which opens Wednesday, also stars Robert Downey Jr. and Jack Black. When I heard about it, I felt really hurt inside, said Special Olympics global messenger Dustin Plunkett. I cannot believe a writer could write something like that. It's the not the way that we want to be portrayed. We have feelings. We don't like the word retard. We are people. We're just like any other people out there. We want to be ourselves and not be discriminated against.
I think that retarted people shouldn’t be all stupid about this movie, they don’t understand anything THEIR RETARTED people just don’t see that they won’t get it because even if they weren’t retarted they would be just like me, I hate when people swear like making fun of retards is a bad thing its hilarious especially when people start protesting a good movie like tropic thunder.
The article I read this morning was about a warning that doctors are sending out about black henna. In the past few weeks there has been many complains about black henna causing skin problems. There are customers as young as 4 years old who have sewed tattoo parlors or marker companies. Black henna are causing a lot of skin problems that include rashes, blisters, eczema, and as well as permanent scarring. Black henna is made from a chemical called p-phenylenediamine. Henna is a plant based coloring used to make red, brown or green dyes for temporary tattoos. P-phenylenediamine is used in black henna so that the tattoo can dry faster and so that it could last up to weeks. Black henna is also found in hair dye.
I believe that instead of letting people get skin problems or anything they should research black henna. If people know that black henna can cause skin irritation why are they using. I think that it should be illegal to use black henna mean while they do a good research on it.
Besides causing skin problems the chemical may permanently confuse the immune system.
