Today in the union tribune, I read that A Louisiana grand jury indicted a former police officer on a manslaughter charge in the death of a man who was Tasered nine times while handcuffed, prosecutors said Wednesday. Scott Nugent also was charged with felony criminal malfeasance in connection with the January death of Baron Scooter Pikes. Pikes, a 21-year-old sawmill worker, tried to run from Winnfield police, who wanted to arrest him on a warrant charging him with cocaine possession. A coroner's report found that Pikes was handcuffed and on the ground when first stunned with a Taser and might have been dead before the last two 50,000-volt shocks were delivered. Nugent, who authorities said was the arresting officer, was suspended and ultimately fired in May. If convicted, Nugent could get up to 40 years for the manslaughter charge and five years for the criminal malfeasance charge. The indictment stems from a state police investigation into the death, which ended in late July. Nugent's attorney, Phillip Terrell, could not be immediately reached for comment Wednesday evening. He said earlier that his client had followed proper police procedure.
The article I read this morning was about a shooting that happened at the border yesterday. A Mexican man was shot at yesterday by border patrol agents after the man threw rocks at the agent. The Mexican authorities were really upset. They don’t agree with agents shooting of any kind towards the Mexican territory. The Mexican authorities were angry because of the fact that they think that the agents should of waited for a response of the Mexican authorities. I believe this incident happened on Tuesday. The U.S. border patrol shot at 2 Mexicans injuring 1. the shooting occurred near Virginia Avenue at the U.S. Mexico border in San Ysidro.
I think that the U.S. border patrol had the right to defend there selves from any type of violent thing that is in any risk of hurting them. I think that what the Mexicans did was wrong because it could make the Mexican authorities really mad. I think all this could even lead up to war.
An interesting fact that I read in the article was that Mexico criticized the shooting at the border.
Mexican drug gang turns to kidnapping in U.S.
on the news today drug gangs are turning to kidnappings to get more funds after many fights with rival gangs and the government has imprisoned many of their top leaders. many of the victims are double nationalities and mexican origin. the same is happening in texas that they get kidnped and taken to mexico to get holded in there
in my opinion the rich who live in mexico should hire a bodyguard on a bullet proof car
they put in their bodies a tracking device
Today I read a woman who was raped at her home by a man who broke in. Today police are searching for a man who raped a woman after he had broke into her home. The attacker entered her home around 4am. Police declined to give the location of the assault they just said it was east of san Diego state university and not near the campus. The man was described as black about 19 years old more than 6 feet tall with a thin muscular build. He was wearing a white t-shirt and long navy blue shorts.
Interesting Facts- The attacker had entered her home by an unlocked window.
My Opinion- I think that is scandalous to rape someone and I think the attacker should do some time for what he did.
In the Union Tribune, I read about Aztecs running back Tyler Campbell left Texas to avoid comparisons to his famous father, Earl Campbell. Facing the prospect of being elbowed aside by celebrity and stagnated by stardom, Tyler Campbell knew the day would come when he would run away from home. “ I wanted to see how I would do on my own,” Campbell said. “ I needed to get away from my father’s name, and that’s no disrespect to him. But I wanted to go somewhere where I could shake someone’s hand and say, “ My name’s Tyler Campbell,’ and not be asked if I was related to Earl.”

“Bush sends aid mission to Georgia”
►Today I read on the newspaper that President Bush sent U.S. troops to Georgia yesterday to oversee a “vigorous and ongoing” humanitarian mission, in a direct challenge to Russia's display of military dominance over the region. His action came after Russian soldiers moved into two strategic Georgian cities in what he and Georgian officials called a violation of the cease-fire Russia had agreed to earlier in the day. Bush demanded that Russia abide by the cease-fire and withdraw its forces or risk its place in “the diplomatic, political, economic and security structures of the 21st century.” It was his strongest warning yet of potential retaliation against Russia over the conflict. The decision to send the U.S. military, even on a humanitarian mission, deepened the United States' commitment to Georgia and U.S. allies in the former Soviet sphere, just as Russia has been determined to reassert its control in the area. On a day when the White House evoked emotional memories of the Cold War, a senior Pentagon official said the relief effort was intended “to show to Russia that we can come to the aid of a European ally, and that we can do it at will, whenever and wherever we want.”
►I agree because they are helping to protect DOMESTIC things, and people.
►I also agree because the DIMENTION of the war keeps on growing.
►In the other hand I DESPITE the idea because USA may get on trouble.
►I think the most interesting fact is that the united states when to help a foreign country without wanting anything back.
Today I read a article about a man that pulled up next to his patrol car and without a word he opened fire to the police officer. one of the bullet passed through the drivers side window of the police car and shattered the glass on the passengers side. The shooting took place in front of Marie Widman Memorial Park on imperial avenue near Encanto area. But a witness noticed the license plates of the shooters car that sais National City. So the homicide police unit think that the shooter is a resident from hear in National City.
