Today in the union tribune, I read that Jurors cringed, cried and some desperately looked away as they were shown a series of deeply disturbing and graphic videos taken by a convicted child killer as he tortured, sexually abused and nearly killed a 9-year-old boy. Joseph Edward Duncan III, acting as his own attorney, had argued against playing the videos, saying it would turn jurors "into my victims" as they decide whether he should be executed. Duncan kidnapped the boy, Dylan Groene, and his sister, Shasta, in May 2005 after murdering their older brother, their mother and her fiancé in the Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, area. The two young children were taken deep into the Lolo National Forest, where they endured weeks of horrendous abuse at Duncan's hands. Duncan ultimately shot the boy point-blank in the head while his sister, then 8, watched. He was arrested after returning to Coeur d'Alene, where a waitress recognized Shasta as the two ate at a Denny's restaurant. The videos and photos taken at the cabin show Duncan forcing the boy to perform a sex act, whipping him with a belt and hanging him with a wire noose until the boy passed out. "The devil is here, boy, the devil himself. The demon couldn't do what the devil sent him to do so the devil came himself," Duncan yells in one video. "The devil likes to watch children suffer and cry. Duncan covered his face as parts of the video were shown, and jurors frequently shot him looks. Two of Duncan's standby attorneys also avoided looking at the screen.
In today's newspaper I read that a man who delivers newspapers for The San Diego Union- Tribune was the victim of a carjacking yesterday while on the job. The man was delivering newspapers to the stand at Howell's Liquor Store at 6853 Imperial Ave. in the Skyline area around 3:40 that morning, when two men in their 20s wearing black hooded sweatshirts integrated him, opened the driver's door, pulled him out of his seat and threw him on the ground. I predict that they will find the criminals and will put them in jail. I feel that the guys who committed this crime should get some prison time. if I was the judge I’ll impose 10 years in the horseshoe for this criminals.
Today I read about a suspect in a sexual assault case pleads not guilty. A teenager Chadrick Jarrod Robertson 17, accused of breaking into a college area home and assaulting a woman who lived there pleaded not guilty in court to nine felony charges including rape assault and attempted robbery. Robertson who is being tried as an adult also faces allegations that he used a knife in the attack. Police say he entered through an open window. They also said that evidence collected from the scene matches Robertson’s DNA.
Interesting Facts- Robertson was arrested Monday during a traffic stop.
My Opinion- I think that is wrong to rape someone and he should do some time for what he did.
Friday Morning Blog
Today I read about how a lieutenant was accused of battery against a woman. This event happened on Sunday afternoon and continued on to early Monday. The court is still deciding on whether this man is or isn't innocent. He was taken to the Vista jail where he was then released on a $25,000 bail. The story of it all was that the woman he assaulted was a former ex-girlfriend. She had gone to his house an a big argument had started. Then she said he allegedly grabbed her by the neck and dragged her around the house. Evidence shows that the woman had red marks all around her neck from being forcibly chocked they are still awaiting on another trial for this situation.
My opinion on this story was that it was very harsh. This also lets people know that not all cops are good. I think they should lock him up so he can see how the people he arrested felt.
