“Grandma accused of hiring hitman heads to court”
►What I read today on the newspaper was that Jeff Carstensen was spooked when he learned his grandmother planned to buy him a $100,000 life insurance policy -- and name herself the beneficiary. She told me that people of our stature have insurance policies on each other," he said. "That way, if something happens to you, you take care of me, and if something happens to me, I take care of you. It was all too suspicious. So I got out of there any way I could, as soon as I could." As he and everyone else who came into Betty Neumar's orbit have learned, he apparently had good reason. The 76-year-old Georgia woman sits in a North Carolina jail, accused of hiring a hit man to kill fourth husband Harold Gentry. Authorities are re-examining the deaths of her first child and four of the five men she married, including Gentry. No motive has been discussed, but records and interviews with relatives and police officials paint Neumar as a domineering matriarch consumed by money.
►I agree because the TECHNIQUE she used was to buy life insurances and hire hitmans.
►I also agree because she didn’t get no ACCESS to the money.
►I agree because what she was doing wasn’t VALID.
►I think the most interesting fact is that they found proves and she got locked up.

Today in the union tribune, I read that Jeff Carstensen was spooked when he learned his grandmother planned to buy him a VALID $100,000 life insurance policy and name herself the beneficiary. She told me that people of our stature have insurance policies on each other, he said. That way, if something happens to you, you take care of me, and if something happens to me, I take care of you. It was all too suspicious. So I got out of there any way I could, as soon as I could. As he and everyone else who came into Betty Neumar's orbit have learned, he apparently had ACCESS to a good reason. She used a TECHNIQUE and collected at least $20,000 in 1986 when Harold Gentry was shot to death in his home. A year earlier, she had collected $10,000 in life insurance when her son died. She also had a life insurance policy on husband No. 5, John Neumar, who died in October. The official cause of death was listed as sepsis, but authorities are investigating whether he was poisoned. Betty Neumar is being held in a North Carolina jail on $500,000 bond, and is scheduled to appear in court Monday. Her attorney has declined requests for comment.

Today I read about two teachers who were sentenced for having sex a student. 27-Year old Cesar Don Juan-Flores was sentenced for having sex with a 17-year old female student at La Jolla Country day. Jessica Kahal was also sentenced for having sex with a student at Helix High School. They were both sentenced to no jail time and will have work furloughs and probation.
My opinion- I think that it is kind of wrong to have sex with your student but if the student wanted to why should the teachers get into trouble. Interesting Facts- Kahal will probably go back to Indiana were she is from and will probably never be able to teach again.

On CNN news website today I read about a gang in Los Angeles. Deputies on the isle say a fledgling gang called the Brown Pride Locos has gotten a foothold among the beaches, coves and tourist shops. A stabbing, burglaries and graffiti are being blamed on the gang, and deputies last month surprised teenagers practicing moves with knives . Others feel that deputies are profiling Hispanic teens who are the children of the maids, cooks and waiters who fuel the island's tourist industry.
"I've been here 19 years and there are no gangs here. It's ridiculous," said 26-year-old Evelyn Cano. "They see shaved heads and tattoos, and that's a gang to them."A SWAT team from Los Angeles helped deputies in a search for drugs and gang evidence at the house of an alleged Brown Pride Locos leader. No one was arrested.
On July 2, nearly four dozen mainland deputies came ashore in four boats and two helicopters and hauled away six suspected gang members for alleged probation violations. The youngest was 15.
Lt. Ed Cook said his staff has spotted suspected members of the Florencia 13 gang – a South Los Angeles gang with ties to the Mexican Mafia -- with local teens. And deputies are hearing rumors that Brown Pride Locos are feuding internally and may split. Every time they stop a kid, the first thing they say is, 'Are you a BPL?' Or, 'Tell me who is,"' said Miguel Rodriguez, whose 15-year-old son is on the sheriff's list of gang members. It’s a lot of gangs in Los Angeles and due to that it’s very violent out there. I personally don’t gang bang, but I know people that do and their lives are not good; in and out of jail. I don’t want to live my life like that.

Today in the CNN new i read, that Authorities have been searching for missing soldier 2nd Lt. Holley Wimunc, 24, since a fire torched her apartment on July 10.

"It is with profound sadness that our family just received the news from authorities that our beloved daughter Holley is dead," Wimunc's father said in a statement released Monday to CNN affiliate WRAL in Raleigh, North Carolina.

"Since last Thursday's shocking news about Holley's burned apartment and her missing person status, our family through the country has nonetheless been holding on to a thin thread of hope that she would be found alive."

No one was inside the apartment at the time of the fire, police said.
A Fayetteville police official said that a Cpl. John Wimunc was arrested and charged with arson in connection with the crime. The official did not confirm local reports that the suspect is Wimunc's husband and is a Marine.
Reflection:i really think thats messed up what happened to this lady but why did it happen it sounds suspicious i feel sorry for her family.

Story: The article I read today was about A South Bay man fatally shot in his home, possibly by his adult stepson, was identified today by the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office as Andrew Zielinski. The 54-year-old Zielinski was shot in an upstairs bedroom in his house in the 1500 block of Piedmont Street around 5:40 p.m. Friday. The victim's wife said he was with their stepson, Konrad Andrew Zielinski, when three shotgun blasts rang out, Lt. Scott Arsenault said. The 25-year-old stepson drove off, prompting a massive search of the area. Other police agencies were alerted. Konrad Zielinski turned himself in at San Diego police headquarters around 11 p.m. Friday. The victim and suspect were engaged in a heated argument before the shooting.
My opinion about this article is the stepson had probably shot him because he didn’t like him or said something bad and just shot him.
The stepson should of just beat him up.
One interesting fact is if the son lives with him or came to visit he should of just been with his mom or leave the house he should start his life.

The Federal Reserve unanimously approved new mortgage lending rules Monday in a crackdown on shady practices - particularly subprime loans made to borrowers with weak credit. The agency made several substantial revisions to the proposed regulations it unveiled in December. Many of the changes acknowledged consumer advocates' concerns that the rules still contained too many loopholes that would allow shady lending practices to continue. But the Fed also made some concessions to industry executives, who feared increasing oversight would lead to less lending The new rules will apply to all mortgage lenders, not just those supervised and examined by the Fed. All but one requirement will take effect Oct. 1, 2009. However, board members said they will continue to work on further oversight of the mortgage industry.“ The proposed final rules are intended to protect consumers from unfair or deceptive acts and practices in mortgage lending, while keeping credit available to qualified borrowers and supporting sustainable homeownership," said Fed Chairman Ben S. Bernanke. "Besides offering broader protection for consumers, a uniform set of rules will level the playing field for lenders and increase competition in the mortgage market, to the ultimate benefit of borrowers "Both consumer advocates and industry executives put a full-court press on the Fed in recent months.
I think that what the federal reserve is doing about the housing problem is not enough to help the people of the united states and should be doing more for the people that what they are doing.

Today I read on Cnn.com a Tropical Storm Bertha raked Bermuda with high winds on Monday while kicking up choppy surf along the U.S. East Coast. A warning about sufficient dangerous riptides doesn't deter people from the beach Sunday along Bermuda's Horseshoe Bay. The U.S. National Hurricane Center said the center of the storm was 75 miles 120 kilometers southeast of the Atlantic island Monday morning, and it said sustained, tropical storm-force winds of 50 mph 80 kph and gusts of 68 mph 108 kph had been recorded at Commissioner's Point. Over the weekend, most tourists avoided the storm-whipped surf and rip currents along Bermuda's southern coast, and authorities began posting signs announcing beach closures. Residents taped up windows and secured boats.
Reflection- I would always wonder how it fells knowing there's a big storm coming and u have to board up your windows and everything.
Interesting Fact- A couple of air lines going in to that direction got canceled.
