Mexican navy seizes makeshift submarine carrying drugs

Mexico's navy seized a homemade submarine carrying a drug shipment off the Pacific coast on Wednesday and arrested its four-man crew.
Similar vessels carrying cocaine have been discovered off Colombia and Central America, but navy spokesman Capt. Benjamin Mar said the seizure is a first for Mexico.
AdvertisementThe 30-foot (10-meter) makeshift submarine was detected heading north about 200 miles (322 kilometers) off the southern state of Oaxaca, Mar said. Green-topped and shaped like an arrowhead, the vessel was intercepted when it surfaced hours later. The crew was taken into custody without resistance. The suspects were flown by helicopter to the city of Huatulco, where they told AP Television News they left the Colombian coastal town of Buenaventura a week ago. They said drug traffickers forced them to make the journey by threatening to harm their families. The navy said in a statement that the sub was apparently packed with cocaine, but authorities were still determining how much was on board. Colombia's drug cartels have been known to use home-built submarines to smuggle large amounts of cocaine past U.S. and Colombian patrol boats to Central America en route to the United States. Colombian authorities have discovered at least nine such vessels over the past three years. Last August, U.S. forces intercepted a submarine-like vessel carrying tons of cocaine off the coast of Guatemala.

On CNN website today I read about how people been going through trash cans recycling to get money. Every Wednesday night, Bruce Johnson dutifully puts his garbage and recycling on the curb for pickup, and every week he fumes as small trucks idle in front of his home and strangers dig through his bins stealing trash they aim to turn into treasure. With prices for aluminum, cardboard and newsprint going up and an economic slowdown putting added pressure on people's pocketbooks, curbside refuse has become a hot commodity.
A truck piled high with mixed recyclables can fetch upward of $1,000; newspapers alone can grab about $600. Homeless advocates worry that a crackdown on recycling could hurt the very poor, who rely on the meager earnings drummed up by turning over bottles and cans for refund values of between 5 cents and 10 cents per container. I think it’s a great opportunity for the homeless people to get money to survive. I couldn’t picture myself trash digging, I have to much pride for that, but I always see people in my area doing it trying to make a living.

Today in the union tribune, I read that Andy Dick was arrested early Wednesday for investigation of drug use and sexual battery after the comedian allegedly pulled down a teenager's tank top, police said. The former co-star of the TV sitcom NewsRadio was released from a detention center after posting $5,000 bail. Calls to his representatives seeking comment were not immediately returned. Police were called to the Buffalo Wild Wings in Murrieta, California, at about 1:13 a.m. to investigate a report of an intoxicated male urinating outside the bar and causing a disturbance, according to a police statement. When they arrived, a 17-year-old girl told police that she was outside when Dick left the bar, walked up, grabbed her tank top and bra and pulled them down and exposed her breasts, the statement said. Friends escorted Dick to a truck, which officers stopped at a nearby Sam's Club, police said. Dick was identified by the teenager and a witness, police said. Marijuana and the drug Xanax were found his pants pockets during a search and he appeared extremely intoxicated, police said. Dick, 42, was booked at Southwest Detention Center in French Valley, California, on suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanor sexual battery and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.
I think that sucks for Andy dick because he had to go to jail for a couple days just because he was doing drugs.

“Stocks soar as oil prices hit the skids for 2nd day ”
►Today I read on the newspaper that Concerns about a slowing U.S. economy and rising inflation pushed oil prices down sharply again yesterday, an unusual dip in the oil price rally that began more than six years ago. The two-day decline of $10.58 per barrel brought the price down to $134.60, but analysts cautioned that it was still unclear how far prices would fall and that it may be a temporary respite. The skid contributed to a jump on Wall Street, with most major market indexes rising more than 2.5 percent. The Dow Jones industrial average rose 276 points, posting its best daily gain in three months. Investors were also buoyed by news that Wells Fargo planned to increase its dividend, easing some concerns about the stability of banks. The drop in the price of oil was also triggered by fresh evidence that Americans were driving less because of high gas prices, which hit a nationwide record of $4.11 per gallon, according to a AAA survey. In San Diego County, the average price for a gallon of regular gas yesterday was $4.48, according to the Utility Consumers' Action Network. The average price for diesel was $5.09 per gallon.
►I agree because the TECHNIQUES are good.
►I also agree because we have VALID money.
►I agree because we had ACCESS to this information.
►I think the most interesting fact is that the oil is going down on price.

The rapper Nas wanted to name his album nigger. But he didn't name his album "Nigger" because there might be problems getting it into stores. But in a recent CNN interview, Nasir Jones explained he didn't change the album's name to please the Rev. Al Sharpton and other black leaders.fresh on America's mind, naming an album "Nigger" seems ill-advised. Nas, however, said his goal wasn't to upset; it was to upend a society that focuses more on pejoratives than the racial plights that spawn them.

Today in the CNN news i read, The crime scene and autopsy photos of 13-year-old strangulation victim Stephen Tomlinson are lasting images of what this young boy went through before he died. They are now evidence in the prosecution’s case-in-chief of first-degree murder against youth minister Joshua Rosa here.
Tomlinson was severely strangled. As Medical Examiner Dr. Leszek Chrostowsky testified, the contusions and abrasions to his neck and lower jaw, show by their redness in color, occurred at or near the time of death. Stephen was fighting to live. This young man consciously knew during those last moments what was happening to him.

Stephen Tomlinson was found with his black belt undone, and his blue jean shorts down to his ankles but his sport shorts (used as boxers) were still on. There is one photo that shows the elastic waistband of those shorts left a deep fence-like pattern impression in the skin of his hip area. The medical examiner believed blunt trauma to Stephen’s hip caused the permanent marking. The pathologist hypothesized that Stephen may have been pushed to the ground so hard the impact to his hip created the pattern markings from the elastic band.
Prosecutors are not required to prove a motive in their case. The defense maintains Rosa is not guilty, and was only trying to help Tomlinson after he found him lifeless in the park.
Reflection; Dang that is messed up what that faget man did to that little boy. why do people want to do this kind of stuff to kids? but the little boy was fighting back because he was a G and he wasen't go let that man boss him around that's what im talkin bout. i juss fell real bad for his family. R.I.P STEPHEN TOMILSON U WENT DOWN LIKE A G.

Today I read in the news that In West Virginia, it was vases bolted to headstones. In Washington State, it was bronze markers on veterans' graves. In Chicago, Illinois it was nearly half a million dollars worth of brass ornaments. It's a crisis of the times said Ruth Shapleigh-Brown, executive director of the Connecticut Gravestone Network, which monitors cemeteries for theft and vandalism. People are finding a way to make money. Across the country, police have reported mounting scrap metal prices translating into increased thefts that range from manhole covers and church downspouts to telephone and power lines. Stealing from the dead is a practice that goes back far enough in history to be the subject of curses on the walls of Egyptian pyramids.
I think that what they did was wrong because they shouldn’t steal from death people or even steal at all.

Today I read about a man who was burned to death in 1964 and he still has no justice. The flames had engulfed Frank’s shoe repair shop in minutes. Fran was so severely burned only the soles of his feet were spared. He had clung to life for a few days and even the doctors wondered why he did. Yet nearly 44years later not a single person has been charged with Morris killing. It was early morning of December 10, 1964 when the front windows of Morris store was shattered and someone had poured gasoline into the shop while Morris was sleeping in the back.
Interesting facts-Morris had a son that was teenager at the time and wants justice now.
My Opinion- I think that is sad they never found the killers and they should try there hardest to find them.

Title: Crest Man Dies After Tree He was Cutting Fell on Top of Him.
Story: The article I read was about A 48-year-old Crest man died when a tree he was trimming fell on top of him. Jeffrey Behrens was cutting down a large tree near the front of his property on Sage Road when it fell onto of another tree, county Medical Examiner's Office investigator James Buckley said. As Behrens was trimming away branches to free the suspended tree, it fell on him, Buckley said, adding that a neighbor witnessed the accident. Responding paramedics found Behrens dead at the scene.
My opinion about this article is I think its kind of a stupid way to die.
I think accidents happen but he wasn’t that protected.
One interesting fact is that the guy could of hired somebody else.
