On CNN website today I read about James Brown and how they are gone to auction his belongings. A South Carolina judge says an auction of James Brown's belongings in New York can go forward as planned this week. South Carolina Court of Appeals Judge Jasper Cureton on Monday lifted a temporary stay that could have held up the sale of the late soul singer's belongings.
Christie's auction house has planned the bidding for Thursday. Among the items for sale are a red jumpsuit and a lock of Brown's hair. They claimed the court should not have been able to appoint new trustees to handle Brown's estate.
Brown died on Christmas Day in 2006 of heart failure. He was 73. I would love to own a piece of James Brown possession. All of his things would someday would be worth millions and whoever buy it at the auction would be lucky.

Today on the CNN website I read an article about A teenager's braces are being credited for possibly saving his life Police said Anthony Pittman 18 of Pontiac is recovering after a bullet hit him in the mouth on Wednesday. A .45-caliber bullet struck Pittman's braces, which fragmented the bullet. believe what happened is that the bullet was split, in part by the braces, so it fragmented and continued into his mouth, tongue and teeth," said Pontiac police Capt. Wendy Keelty. But because it was fragmented, it didn't penetrate through the back of his neck. It happened in the 100 block of Judson Street in Pontiac.
I think these is crazy he got real lucky that it didn’t kill him

“Assurances don't ease banking fears”
What I read today on the newspaper was that Even as the Bush administration moved to rescue the nation's two largest mortgage companies, confidence in the banking sector spiraled downward yesterday. In Southern California, customers who hurried to withdraw money waited in long lines at branches of IndyMac, the large lender seized by federal regulators Friday. As the anxiety spread, two other big banks, one in Ohio and another in Washington state, were compelled to assert that they were sound. Even as federal regulators issued assurances that depositors' savings were safe, Wall Street analysts circulated lists of lenders that might be vulnerable. Shares of regional banks plunged in one of the sharpest declines since the 1980s. Many investors fear that the government's resolve to help Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the giant companies at the center of the nation's mortgage market, will not hold back the rising tide of bad loans unleashed by the weakening housing market and faltering economy.
I agree because the TECHNIQUE was used good.
I also agree because what they where doing was VALID.
I agree because they had ACCESS good.
I think the most interesting fact was that the giants companies at the center of the nation’s mortgage market will not hold back the rising tide of bad loans .

LATINO CONVENTION:
NATIONAL COUNCIL OF LA RAZA
Organization on the defensive over its name

DOWNTOWN SAN DIEGO – The National Council of La Raza spends most of its time protecting and advancing the rights of Latinos through advocacy and community work. But as it wraps up its convention downtown, it has found itself defending its name.

That's because activists who oppose illegal immigration are saying in e-mails, during street protests and through the media that “La Raza” means “The Race,” and have been calling the organization a hate group.

The accusations have prompted soul-searching among NCLR supporters as to what the name actually means and stands for. Most say the situation is the result of a word lost in translation.

In the past few days, organizers have addressed the issue at news conferences and on their Web site, where they explain their interpretation of the name.

“While it is true that one meaning of 'raza' in Spanish is indeed 'race,' . . . words can and do have multiple meanings,” reads the statement. “ 'La raza' means 'the people' or 'the community.'

“Translating our name as 'the race' is not only inaccurate, it is factually incorrect. 'Hispanic' is an ethnicity, not a race. . . . Hispanics can be and are members of any and all races.”

Still, raza can mean different things to different people, even Spanish speakers. For some it means family and community, while for others it represents the language and customs of Latinos.
