Today in the union tribune, I read that Mexico's acting federal police chief was shot dead early Thursday outside his home – a brazen attack as drug traffickers increasingly lash back at a nationwide crackdown on organized crime. Edgar Millan Gomez was shot 10 times after opening the door to his Mexico City apartment complex, where at least one gunman was waiting for him before dawn, the Public Safety Department said. Two bodyguards were also wounded. Millan died hours later at a hospital. Millan, 41, was named acting chief of the federal police March 1 after his superior was promoted to a deputy Cabinet position, said a police official who was not authorized to give his name. Mexico has suffered a wave of organized crime and drug-related violence, in which more than 2,500 people died last year alone. Millan had been involved in solving a number of high-profile kidnappings. In 2000, he helped to capture one of Mexico's most feared kidnappers, Andres Caletri, and to disband two notorious abduction rings. In 2001, he was named head of anti-kidnapping operations for the Federal Agency of Investigation, Mexico's version of the FBI.

New Rochelle Sgt. David Rodriguez pleaded not guilty to forcible rape, agreed to an order of protection keeping him away from the teenager and posted $25,000 bail. If convicted, he could be sentenced to up to 25 years in prison. Rodriguez did not speak after the arraignment, but his attorney Stephen Worth said the charge was false and the investigation was slipshod. He said the girl "has a number of motives to make up a false allegation," but he did not elaborate. The sergeant's wife, Darlene Rodriguez, anchorwoman of WNBC-TV's "Today in New York," was in tears outside the courtroom before the arraignment. She left the courthouse dry-eyed with her husband and said, "I'm here to support my husband. I believe in him. I love him. He's innocent 100 percent." Police Commissioner Patrick Carroll said the investigation was thorough. "We took our time," he said. "We didn't jump to any conclusions. "Carroll had announced the rape allegation, without naming David Rodriguez, more than a month ago and suspended him with pay. Rodriguez, 36, of Croton-on-Hudson, was suspended without pay Wednesday.

I feel that if they would have CONDUCTED a better interview they would found more evidence to convict him. The ADMINSTRERED some help for the cast men but other than that he got off. The ELEMENT that the police officer was in was not that good.

Today I read an article about a ban on tinted windows in T.J. the reason why the new law came into effect is because of crime rings use dark tint and in some cases paper to cover their windows to conceal weapons. Officers have set up checkpoints around the city to tell drivers to remove the tint or be cited and have their vehicles towed. The objective of the law is not to make money its to secure the city. Drivers who refuse to peel the film from the window will be fined $50. They are also responsible for a tow fee, storage costs and will be required to remove the tint before they can reclaim their vehicle. Of the vehicles stopped, 33 have been impounded but that was because the drivers were unlicensed, or didn’t have any plates or it wasn’t registered.

Two woman attacked

The article I read about today was about two women who were attacked and their car was stolen. One woman was stabbed and another slashed and their car was stolen by a man they had befriend at a casino. The woman ages 68, and 70 met the man age 23 at during a night out and offered to give him a ride home. They drove him just before 5am to sixth avenue and G street in downtown where he turned on them and attacked them, he took their purses, and their car.
Interesting facts- The car was a 1988 Cadillac and has California license plate.
My opinion- I think that was scandal to take their stuff and robbed them when they were just trying to give him a ride.

An environmentalist extremist activist was sentenced to twenty years in prison after it was discovered that he was the mastermind behind a plan that would destroy public, private and government owned installations. The man’s name is Eric McDavid and his plan had been COMPUTED very SPECIFICALLY to make sure he and others of the Earth Liberation Front ACHIEVED their goal of destroying a Northern California dam, a genetics lab, a forestry and other targets. The attacks would be DISTRIBUTED among different points to make sure they destroyed their targets. McDavid, 29, had bought a book called “Poor Man’s James Bond” that explained how to make explosives. The attack was planned to make sure that they would hit U.S. Forest Service Institute of Forest Genetics, the Nimbus Dam and Fish Hatchery near Sacramento, cellular telephone towers and electric stations. Their targets VARIED from the commercial to the government owned. They would have OBTAINED their objective, yet, when they were leaving the store in which they had bought the explosives they got arrested outside. After having a trial McDavid was sentenced with a 20 years in federal prison.

Several more SDSU students were arraigned in a Superior Court Thursday morning. Kenneth Ciaccio a 19-year old is accused of being a major Drug Kingpin and the lead supplier of the drugs on the SDSU campus. He is being charged with four counts of drug trafficking. The 19 year old student major is in Criminal Justice. If he is convicted of the charges he may face a maximum 18 year sentence in a California State Prison.
Reflection: I think it sucks because these students who got busted were just starting their lives.
Reflection: The guy who is a major in Criminal Justice in screwed.
Reflection: The students should have been watching out who they were dealing drugs to.
My Opinion: In my opinion it sucks that the students got caught up but at the same time its good because now there is a lesser chance that those drugs can be near little kids.

The supreme court upheld Kentucky's method of execution by lethal injection. High court ok’s lethal injection they also say that its common sequence of three drugs in a manner that posed an unconstitutional risk that a condemned inmate would suffer a lot of pain or little. In my opinion I think that lethal injections are a good idea because then the inmates wont suffer pain and would die easily. I think that its right that they a prove it because like they caused pain to others pain comes back. I think that people should keep a proving this law because it’s a good law because it takes a way pain for the inmates. 7-2 ruling are still thinking about it but the doors haven't closed on the topic of lethal injections.
