Today in the union tribune I read that scientists have discovered that the builder of the Titanic struggled for years to obtain enough rivets and riveters and ultimately settled on faulty materials that doomed the ship, which sank 96 years ago today. The builder’s own archive, the two scientists say, harbors evidence of a deadly mix of low-quality rivets and lofty ambition as the builder labored to construct the worlds three biggest ships at once- the Titanic and the two sister ships, Olympic and the Britannic. For a decade, scientists have argued that the storied liner went down fast after hitting an iceberg because the ship’s builder used substandard rivets that popped off their heads and let tons of icy seawater rush in. more than 1,500 people died. When the safety of the rivets was first questioned 10 years ago, the builder ignored the accusation and said it did not have an archivist who could address the issue.

S0URCE; union tribune.

ARTiCLE; inmate health care could mean cuts elsewhere.

SUMMARy; This morning's blog is based on a healthcare proposal for inmates. California law makers said yesterday that a request to improve healthcare in prisons could cost deeper budget cuts. These budget cuts would be in the rest of state of California's programs. A federal court-appointed $6 million spending money to go ahead and build additional medical units.

REFLECTi0N; I'm not sure how much these additional medical units should have cost but I'm sure they were necessary. I don't think that even people locked up should be without proper healthcare.

iNTERESTiNG FACT; The total amount is roughly half of what Arnold Schwarzenegger proposed last year.

“INSECT INVATION; INSECTS ARE TAKING THE REGION BY SWARM”
►What I read on the newspaper was that the spring has been ideal for little things with wings. From inland valleys to the coast, hordes of moths, butterflies and long-legged crane flies have swarmed open fields, hillsides and backyards. People claim that there are thousands of them, who had witnessed an invasion of half-dollar-sized moths in her yard last week.
►I agree with this because also outside of my house there is a lot of this things.
►I also agree with this because on the trees with flowers there is a lot of this flies.
►I agree because every part I go and if I see trees with flowers of plants with flowers I always see this flies flying around.
►I think the most interesting is that the scientists are saying that this thing are going to immigrate to mexico.

The article I read today was about what likely sank the titanic. Scientists have found out that the builder of the titanic struggled for years to get enough rivets and riveters and settled on faulty materials that sank the ship 96 years ago today. The builders archive shows evidence of a deadly mix of low-quality rivets and low-ambition as the builder. The Company Harland &Wolff kept quiet to all of this but now they say “ There was nothing wrong with the materials,” Joris Minne, a company spokesman said last week.

11 Afghan policemen were killed when they were attacked by the Taliban at a checkpoint. The 11 Afghan police officers were at a border checkpoint in Kandahar, Afghanistan when there station was attacked by the Taliban. A policemen on watch on top of the roof was strangled to death and put in a room with two other policemen who’s head’s were covered and both were shot in the head. Eight more policemen were found in the room were they sleep, seven of them were shot in the head as they slept. One who nearly managed to escape was shot in his foot as he attempted to leave. He was also murdered. Police officers from another nearby checkpoint said they heard gunshots but didn’t think nothing of it because the gun shots didn’t go on for a long period of time. Officials say events like this aren’t rare, and it is hard to find the hideouts of insurgents because they also stay in very hidden stations. Despite all the help from the U.S Afghan forces are still under-trained and out gunned when facing the Taliban and other insurgent groups.
Reflection: It sucks that the Afghan police cant even go to sleep because there station will get raided and they will get killed.
Reflection: I think the Afghan’s should get more officers and post them out there near the checkpoints so if events like this were to occur again the Afghan authorities will be prepared.
Reflection: The U.S is doing the best it can to help out the Afghan’s, but they still aren’t ready to go up against the Taliban.
My Opinion: In my opinion I think the U.S should just get out of the middle east. We tried to help out that country and it doesn’t help. The best solution would be to just get out of there.

Robbery in City Heights

Today I read about two men one was beaten and another who was robbed at knifepoint in City Heights yesterday. The two men had confronted the 45 year old and beat him and had INTERACTED with him when he said he had no money. One of the robbers then took out a knife and took the 35 year olds wallet. The men had been drinking in an alley off of Trojan avenue near 50th street about 3:45 am. The robbers had drove off in a gray SUV one of the men was described as black and in his 20’s the other was described as Latino in his 20’s.
Interesting facts- The man who was beaten was taken to the hospital.
My Opinion- I think that was a scandalous thing to do. I think that was not right beating someone and then robbing someone at knife point for there money.

Crazy kid

A boy named Michael Pittman killed his grandparents 3 years ago. Recently he went to appeal and the supreme court over turned this. They are arguing that he was on heavy doses of antidepressants and that the sentence was to tough. One night while his grandparents were sleeping he shot his kids with a shotgun. Then he proceed to set the house on fire. When the police came they found Michaels standing outside the house. The police took him into custody. Three years he was sentenced to 30 years to life in prison. Pittman is now 6foot 2 and received his equivalent to a GED. He works at a adult facility as a janitor. There saying that the medication he took INTERACTED bad with his system and had a anger outburst. He INITIAL stated that he did not shoot his grandparents but later he said he did. To COMPENSATE for what he did he was sentenced for 30 years. His defendants tried to get the sentence reduced. He has already has spent 3 years in prison.

I think that this is a strategy I also think that he should get a little mercy. Even if he did kill his grandparents. He probably went crazy with all that different doses of drugs in his system. He has already done 3 years of his life. I think he should just get probation for 3 more years and that is it.

♥ The article I read about this morning was about the off duty police officer that shot a woman and her eight year old son. The police officer who’s name is Frank White, shot Rachel Silva while he was off duty. Officer White was in the parking lot of Lowes with his wife when the incident happened. Silva was mad at White I believe that it all started because of the parking. Silva was mad because White and his wife wouldn’t get out of the parking or something related to that. Well after all the courts Silva was tested on drugs and was found positive. She was found with o.15 in alcohol level. She also was found with marijuana in her system.
♥ I think that what officers are doing now and days is wrong. Officers think that just because they have a gun when they are at work they can shot at anyone. I hope that they start reading there rights and there wrongs because this is ridiculous.
♥ An interesting fact that I read about in the article was that White said he didn’t notice that Silva’s son was in the car with her when he shot at the car.

The Senate Environment and Public Works Committee will be investigating an action taken by the government. Government was funding a research in poor, black neighborhoods to see if sewage sludge might fight lead poisoning in children. The sludge was to be used as fertilizer for soil. What the government did not tell this poor families was that there was a health risk involved in the used of sewage sludge. Now the committee is trying to appeal in a court to make sure that the government COMPENSATES for any damage if there is one. The INITIAL action of the Committee was to hold a study to make sure what were the effects of using the sludge as fertilizer. They concluded that using the sludge increases the risk of lead poisoning in children. Gerald Stansbury, who is the president of the National Association For the Advancement of Colored People, said that this is the same thing that happened with the men in Tuskegee that syphilis and the government refused to give them treatment in order to see how the disease would INTERACT with them.
